Overview

This qualification is ideal for candidates who want to work as a Bricklayer in the construction industry. It will help you learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression as a painter and decorator. The course is delivered in our large construction department where you will gain skills and knowledge to enable you to erect and dismantle access equipment and working platforms, prepare surfaces for decoration, apply paint by brush and roller, wallpaper and produce decorative finishes.

You will be required to gain the following units:

• Principles of building construction

• Erect and dismantle access equipment and working platforms

• Preparing surfaces for decoration

• Applying paint systems by brush and roller

• Applying foundation and plain papers

• Producing specialist decorative finishes

• Health, Safety and Welfare in construction

 

How will it be delivered?

Unit 101 Principles of building construction and Unit 201 Health, Safety and Welfare in construction are each assessed by an online multi choice test 

The remaining units are assessed by a practical assignment to cover performance outcomes and a multi choice question paper to cover the knowledge outcomes

 

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements however your skills and ability will be assessed to ensure you have the potential and opportunity to gain the qualification successfully.

This qualification allows students to progress into employment, apprenticeship or into further training to gain a level 2 painting and decorating qualification.
