This course requires 3-4 days of attendance each week and involves:
- Building Solid Walling
- Constructing Cavity Walling
- Interpreting drawings
The training is very practical from the start, which means you’ll be improving your bricklaying skills most days.
In addition to the practical training, your teacher will guide you through some theory on health and safety, how to read technical drawings and how to communicate on a building site.
Your skills will be assessed and you will work towards either the level 1 or level 2 in Bricklaying is made of eight units that cover a wide range of skills. This diploma is a technical certificate within the construction building apprenticeship framework.
Costs and Financial Support
The course is FREE to students ages 16-19. There are also NO costs for tools, materials or equipment. Students may also be eligible for a weekly bursary payment to cover travel and food expenses. As this is a full-time course, parents / carers will be eligible for child related benefits.
There are many options for progression from the Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying, including the Level 2 NVQ qualification, or the Level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying.
