September 2016 – June 2017 (starts dates are also available throughout the year)
Our full-time Health and Social Care course involves attending 3-4 days per week and will prepare you for work in the sector, including:
- How to run leisure activities for adults
• How to meet the emotional needs of adults
• How to work with adults of different ages
In addition to the practical training, your teacher will guide you through some theory on how adults behave and their care needs. You will learn about the different roles within the care sector and the types of clients you might work with.
The BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Health and Social Care includes ten units that cover a wide range of skills. These include The Role of a Carer at Mealtimes, Health and Social Care Needs and Personal Care in Health and Social Care. The qualification is nationally recognized as a foundation to developing the skills and knowledge required for a career in childcare.
Costs and Financial Support
The course is FREE to students ages 16-19. There are also NO costs for tools, materials or equipment. Students may also be eligible for a weekly bursary payment to cover travel and food expenses. As this is a full-time course, parents / carers will be eligible for child related benefits.
There are many options for progression from the Diploma in Health and Social Care, including Further Education, apprenticeships or employment. We try to secure work experience placements for our students to help with progression into the workplace.
