Roll on Roll off courses throughout the year
This course involves attending 3-4 days per week. You will learn the principles of food preparation, including:
• Food Hygiene
• Professional Cookery
• Customer Service Skills
• Team Working Skills
Our hospitality & catering course combines practical cookery sessions with classroom sessions to help build your confidence in preparation for work experience. You will prepare different dishes every day, sampling foods from around the world, in order to gain a broad understanding of the catering industry. You will prepare starters, main courses and desserts as part of the course – all of which you can taste for yourself!
The Level 1 Introduction to the Hospitality Industry units in baking, roasting, frying, along with food hygiene and cold food preparation. The qualification involves you being assessed in the kitchen and producing a portfolio of evidence to show your understanding of good food and good customer service.
Costs and Financial Support
The course is FREE to students ages 16-19. There are also NO costs for tools, materials or equipment. Students may also be eligible for a weekly bursary payment to cover travel and food expenses. As this is a full-time course, parents / carers will be eligible for child related benefits.
On completion of the Level 1 course you will have the opportunity to progress onto a Level 2 course or apprenticeship. You may want to study up to Level 3 in order to become a fully qualified chef. However, you will have the option of applying for roles such as Kitchen Assistant, Sous Chef or Bar Person/Waiter.
