This course involves attending 3-4 days per week. The Love Hair salon is the ideal place to learn if you’re passionate about hair and beauty. You will benefit from completing your training in an established commercial salon, allowing you to see how the industry really works on a daily basis. You will learn how to carry out a range of treatments by observing expert demonstrations and, most importantly, having a go yourself.
The core units include:
• Presenting a Professional Image
• Styling Men’s and Women’s Hair
• Shampoo and Conditioning
• Nail Art Application
The course will also give you the opportunity to learn about Plaiting and Twisting, Applying Make-Up, Skin Care and much more! Our tutors will help you discover your talent for hair and beauty and gain the confi dence to carry out treatments to a professional standard.
The Level 1 BTEC Diploma in Hair and Beauty covers units from both possible career routes. The qualifi cation involves you completing a series of assessed treatments, such as Styling Hair, along with a portfolio of evidence to show your understanding of the subjects, such as a Style Guide on the latest hair trends.
Costs and Financial Support
The course is FREE to students ages 16-19. There are also NO costs for tools, materials or equipment. Students may also be eligible for a weekly bursary payment to cover travel and food expenses. As this is a full-time course, parents / carers will be eligible for child related benefits.
In order to become a fully qualifi ed Hair Stylist or Beauty Therapist you will be looking to progress onto a Level 2 course on completion of your BTEC. This could be done through an apprenticeship scheme or a local Further Education college. You could also apply for a job as a Salon Assistant/Salon Receptionist.
