Our Professional Cookery course combines practical cookery sessions with classroom sessions to help build your confidence in preparation for work experience. You will prepare different dishes every day, sampling foods from around the world, in order to gain a broad understanding of the catering industry. You will prepare starters, main courses and desserts as part of the course – all of which you can taste for yourself!
The Level 1 Diploma in Professional Cookery includes units in baking, roasting, frying, along with food hygiene and cold food preparation. The qualification involves you being assessed in the kitchen and producing a portfolio of evidence to show your understanding of good food and good customer service.
On completion of the Level 1 course you will have the opportunity to progress onto a Level 2 course or apprenticeship. You may want to study up to Level 3 in order to become a fully qualified chef. However, you will have the option of applying for roles such as Kitchen Assistant, Sous Chef or Bar Person/Waiter.
